Buying Affinty Designer through the Windows Store

Recommended Posts

@Derkaziam

Welcome to the Affinity forums.

If you buy a licence for Designer at the MS store the licence is for Windows only. If you also want it on a Mac, that would require the purchase of a second, Mac-specific licence.

However, have you checked out the Universal License? It includes all 3 apps on all 3 operating systems, Windows, Mac and iPad. It’s currently available with a 40% discount until December 14th.

Win 10 Pro, i7 6700K, 32Gb RAM, NVidia GTX1660 Ti and Intel HD530 Graphics

Long-time user of Serif products, chiefly PagePlus and PhotoPlus, but also WebPlus, CraftArtistProfessional and DrawPlus.  Delighted to be using Affinity Designer, Photo, and now Publisher, version 1 and now version 2.

iPad Pro (12.9") (iOS 17.4) running Affinity Photo and Designer version 1 and all three version 2 apps.

Correct. But even if you purchased a Designer license from Serif directly, you would have to choose Windows, macOS, or iPad. And it would work only on that OS.

If you want a license that covers more than one OS you must buy the Universal License, which will cover all 3 OSes and all 3 applications. You can buy that license at the Affinity Store, or as an in-app purchase no matter where you downloaded a Trial version of the app. So, you could download a Trial of Designer from the Microsoft Store, and purchase a Universal License from within the app, allowing you to run all the apps on all 3 OSes.
