Printing from affinity suddenly has speckles round images

Recommended Posts

Hi there! I make mugs and I've been using affinity designer the whole time, now every image suddenly has this speckle around it, like tiny tiny dots which when the mugs are pressed make the graphics/text kinda fuzzy? I've got a photo but it's genuinely so hard to capture but I'll post it anyway

I don't know how to fix it, I've tried exporting as pdf, jpg, pdf I don't think it's a printer issue because it's so consistent like it's every single image

If anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it

Welcome to the forum @Heatherp94

  1. Which printer are you using, model?
  2. Windows or Mac?
  3. Affinity Version and which app?
  4. Do you have a file you can upload?

I'm using an Epson ET2850 but it was happening on my Epson L3111 as well before it died, I'm on Windows, my affinity is Affinity Designer and is 1.10.6.1665 I think? I do have a file I can upload for sure, it doesn't show up on the file though only when it prints but I'm kind of a novice so maybe someone can see something I can't

Is this paper textured? Sure looks like it to me, and that would maybe be the problem.

Mac Pro (Late 2013) Mac OS 12.7.2
Affinity Designer 2.3.1 | Affinity Photo 2.3.1 | Affinity Publisher 2.3.1 | Beta versions as they appear.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

I totally get how it looks like that but no, it's sublimation paper which is absolutely not textured, I think every paper probably looks like that when it's taken a photo of in super macro mode maybe

Edit: it's probably worth mentioning that I've been using the exact same paper and affinity designer to do this for years, and this has only happened in the last week or so
