Crash while moving mask

Recommended Posts

I'm using Photo 2.2.0.0,
OS: Ventura on MB Pro 14" M1

Can you reproduce it?
Yes, Consistently reproduces in the same document. I can share the document, but not on the open forum.

Description of the problem:

I moved a mask from one layer up through several other layers. Halfway through, Photo crashes. Cutting the mask and copying to the target layer does work.

To reproduce:

- Have several raster layers (large, photos)
- Create a mask on a bottom layer
- Move the mask up the layer stack
- crash

See attached video and crash report.

There's no unusual hardware/software running.

The issue "Drag-dropping a masked child layer out to the parent stack without releasing the mouse button causes a crash" (REF: AF-977) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.4.0.2252".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.

Hi @Chris B

I'm not sure if this is same issue, but I had a similar issue today.

I had a HSL adjustment as a child layer and when click dragging the HSL adjustment and offering it to another thumbnail in the layer stack, to create a child layer under a different parent, it crashed. It happened twice following the same steps in the same recovered file. Unfortunately when I started screen recording I was not able to reproduce.

Thought I would flag anyway in case anyone else has experienced something similar.

The attached video shows same steps (albeit, without the crash).

Screen Recording 2024-01-29 at 22.19.44.mov

Thanks

Hey @Affinity_Pro it could very well be the same. The actions you were taking look like the recipe to trigger the crash we know about. I spent a good 10 minutes or so testing the recipe and didn't get a crash in the 2.4.0.2252 beta. I don't think it will be long until this is available to you.
