Gerhard G
The choice in developer is grayed. Input files are from a canon EOS R5 .CR3 file. I used to work in HDR, for getting better results in backlight with pictures of birds in a bush. Worked fine for me in photo 1. I recently stopped doing that, to give the RAW embedded function a chance. I am an amateur photographer. I made some changes to the settings of Affinity Photo 1 using information provided. Something seems to have created a problem!
walt.farrell
I'm unsure what you mean by "opening another layer and then a pixel layer". Can you provide a detailed description of the steps you're trying to take? And it would help to have some screenshots of the app window including the Layers panel. Gerhard G
Sorryfor being unclear.. 1. I open a file xxx.cr3 with affinity photo2 2. I click in the choice field for the output, now showing 'Pixel Layer' in gray 3. No other choice available, nothing happens 4. I notice now RGBA/32 (HDR) is on the screen, I have to get rid of that, but how?I choose 16 bits.. Corgi
If you're done making the adjustments you want to make in the right-hand panels, then you must click the Develop button to proceed into the Photo persona.

If you're on a Mac, you need to have the Assistant in Photo configured to use the Serif Labs RAW engine, not the Apple RAW engine. Only the Serif engine provides the new Develop function. Gerhard G
Is it correct that tone mapping cannot be used in anyway, using the RAW embedded mode?

It is certainly correct that a RAW embedded layer is not a Pixel layer. So if the Tone Mapping Persona requires a pixel layer, then yes, it's correct. Gerhard G
OK, the result is very interesting, but the way to get there.... Just asking, could I see a user-friendly version of this in the next update? Preferably using verbal terms as used in the 'normal' tone mapping persona??
