Cannot export following upgrade to Affinity Photo 1.10.6 1665

Recommended Posts

I have today upgraded Affinity Photo on my laptop to version 1.10.6 1665.  It will not let me export into any folder - I either get a warning that I need to contact the administrator - that's me - or simply that there's an (unspecified) error.  See attached.   I have checked permissions and all options are allowed.  Everything was fine before the upgrade.  I have changed nothing else on the computer.  I have rebooted but the problem remains.

I'm getting either that or a "Cannot save to this location, want to save to Pictures Folder instead?" but when I click yes on that and try to export to that folder, I get the very same question all over again in an endless loop. Sometimes, if I have rebooted the computer, I can get ONE exporting done successfully, but then after that I keep getting the error message again. Luckily, I had Designer so I saved as .afphoto file and opened it in Designer and exported as .png from there, but that's seriously a pain in the arse.

Someone, please help us figure this out.

EDITed to add: Now I am having the exact same issue with Affinity Designer. These apps are now completely useless to me, as I use them to generate .png artwork for my video editing. And that is exactly what neither Designer or Photo is able to do for me now. Will Serif put out another update for the V1 editions to fix this, or are they only going to focus on the new V2, leaving all of us who thought we had a lifetime of updates coming when we purchased this software?

Perhaps you are using Windows Controlled Folder Access, and need to whitelist the application again? Or perhaps something else in your anti-virus or anti-malware setup is preventing it.

THANK YOU! I found the problem I believe: it was Avast and it's Ransomware Protection. I selected the folders I export to and turned off Avast's protection of them. After that, both Photo and Designer were able to export .png files. So far no pushback from the computer on saving anywhere. or anything.

You have no idea how grateful I am for your post. Again, THANK YOU 🙏🙏🙏. You've saved my butt big time!
