Cannot install V2 Affinity apps

Recommended Posts

I purchased V2 of Affinity Photo, Publisher and Designer after having installed and used V1 of all 3 on the same Windows 10 machine without issue.  When attempting to install these new versions, the App installer appears for a moment, appearing to start the process, then blinks out of view with no further action or error messaging.  I went through the Troubleshooting install Issues for Affinity V2 without any help.  I suspect the trouble revolves around the .msix installation package.  I successfully installed the latest V23 Capture One without such issues (does not use the .msix installer).

Windows 10  Version 22H2 (OS Build 19045.2251)

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

Just to confirm, you mean you've done all the steps in this FAQ already?

Yes, I went through all the troubleshooting steps.  The Event Viewer provided no meaningful input and there were no error messages onscreen.  I was not able to run PowerShell.

this time I received a more verbose reply:

Just guessing, but perhaps you need to install the dependencies. Instructions in the FAQ:

Perhaps the 4th step:

Yes, all 3 now installed and V1 have been uninstalled. That was the most work installing a program I have experienced in years, but with a bit of nudging from you and some some reading between the lines, success was achieved.  Worth the effort, I would say

Here is what I get:

Thanks for screwing up your program suite. I will use V1 until you produce an MSI installer.

Affinity-photo-v2.jpg

I installed the program under my Admin account and my user account and my "normal" User account. I have selected the "Change where new content is saved" switch to the D drive. It still loads to the C drive.

Affinity has hosed this release; you should send out an apology to your users and suggest an alternate software suite.

I do not expect a response or any relief of this situation. Good Grief.

I got it when the install process failed to launch Affinity Photo V2. When I went to the Affinity Photo V2 Icon on the installed apps menu - I get this same message.

I have uninstalled AP v2 from my system since I can not use it. If - and this is a huge if - AF does come out with a MSI loader I will try it again. Otherwise, I will request a refund.

I am not happy; this is just ridiculous.
