Can't install Affinity 2 on Windows: requirements too high

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I use Windows Server 2019 (it's Windows 10 based) , so my only way to install the MSIX package is to use Powershell, but I get this error:

Is it possible that an updated Windows 2019 is not enough for Affinity?

The current version of Win2019 is 10.0.17763 and  Affinity requests at least 10.0.19041.

Don't you think it's too much? Many offices still use WinServer2012 or WinServer2016.

Please can you downgrade the minimum windows version requested? Or offer a Setup package which doesn't check it?

It's a pity that Affinity choose Win11 as minimum version for the new V2.

As I understand it, many Windows 10 users are using the V2 apps.

I think it's just a typo, because the OP is aware of the required OS version.

I got the refund from Affinity. It can't be installed on Windows Server 2019 (Win10). I'm so sad...

How crazy is that, this may not be a big loss but to have a customer have to ask for a refund because the app will not install on a modern OS is a bit bonkers. I know loads of people still using windows 7, never entertained windows "what a joke" 8 and will not touch windows 10/11 because it's basically just spyware although that can be blocked to make a more useful OS.

I think they have cut a bit too much, with the stringent system requests. The fact that the price of the apps is so low would make the Affinity apps interesting for people with not enough money to feel compelled to update their otherwise still perfectly fine computers.

As for me, I can't but reiterate that some of us are still on Adobe CS6, and are forced in Mac Mojave before we can complete the switch to the Affinity apps. This means that either we don't have access to the source apps (CS6), or to the target ones (Affinity V2).

Windows 11 is basically a Windows 10. The difference is roughly that an active TPM module (CPU or expansion card) is required for the installation. However, you can bypass the TPM query with RUFUS or Ventoy.

But apart from that, applications that are not server relevant do not belong on a server.  And if they do, they should be separated in a virtual machine.
