Skilar Babcock
So I decided to try the trial for Affinity photo 2 on iPad, and immediately hit with a bad experience that I hope is a bug. I’m an artist and planned to use it for drawing and painting. However, just drawing lines with the basic brush with oressure has issues. It doesn’t adjust pressure smoothly and ends up having like, blobs inside the lines instead of smooth line. I’ve seen plenty of YouTube videos of the first Photo, of people using it for liner art and getting smooth lines. Note, this happens with fast or slow lines and adjusting pressure curves does nothing. If I’m going to buy this in ipad, this needs fixed

NotMyFault
Its a known issue. You can try to adjust the preferences/ pencil /Pressure curve, but the issue is that small strokes have a visible step between no pressure and smallest possible pressure. NotMyFault
And yesterday, of course. once a moderator recognized this report and is able to reproduce, it will be handed over to the devs. Quote Mac mini M1 A2348 | Windows 10 - AMD Ryzen 9 5900x - 32 GB RAM - Nvidia GTX 1080 LG34WK950U-W, calibrated to DCI-P3 with LG Calibration Studio / Spider 5 iPad Air Gen 5 (2022) A2589 Special interest into procedural texture filter, edit alpha channel, RGB/16 and RGB/32 color formats, stacking, finding root causes for misbehaving files, finding creative solutions for unsolvable tasks, finding bugs in Apps. NotMyFault
As a workaround: create the document with 2x to 8x the resolution, and use bigger brushes. Export your final result in lower resolution. brush starts to be usable with pressure at 64px, maybe 32px. Skilar Babcock
If this already a known issue, shouldn’t it already be in process? Because of this, I can’t actually try the trial. It’s buggy and by the time it’s fixed, my trial will run iht
NotMyFault
Fixes take their time, mostly several month depending on urgency. If this is a deal breaker, make your decision. Skilar Babcock
It is a deal breaker, I’m an artist and the one function I need this for doesn’t work. It’s the only app on the store that has a semi desktop brush engine
NotMyFault
The problem goes away if you reduce the hardness of the brush to zero. Skilar Babcock
This option doesn’t exist for me, it only has accumulation, flow, and size
NotMyFault
Click on the flow symbol once. It then changes to hardness. Skilar Babcock
This workaround is kinda useless. The point of needing a smooth transitioning line it to have a smooth line. Removin my harness’s just makes it blurry FranceFresco
NotMyFault
Well, you cant have it all in once (when working with bitmap / raster): either use extremely small brushes of 1-2 px, and a hard brush: then you get jumps in thickness. or use a soft brush with small size: it intentionally becomes a bit blurry. Or use larger brushes with a medium hardness. play a bit with the hardness value, you may find a better setting. Maybe going to Affinity Designer and Vector Brushes will serve you better. Staff Gabe Posted December 19, 2022 Staff Share Posted December 19, 2022 I'm not sure what the problem is here. You are using a 7px brush, with 100% hardness. When you go from 0px to 7px, it will not have a smooth transition, because you specifically ask for 100% hardness.
FranceFresco
I have the exact same problem. Has never been an issue in Adobe Fresco Edited August 18, 2023 by FranceFresco
