bobdobbs Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 I'm used to editing SVG's in Inkscape. So when trying to lean Designer, the first thing I want to do is figure out how to manipulate nodes. In Affinity 2 I can quickly see how to create lines that consist of nodes. I can see the nodes. But I can't see a means of deleting nodes, changing node properties or creating new nodes within the same object. If I google, I can find information on the node tool in the old version of Affinity Designer. But I can't find any information on how to find the node tool in Affinity Designer 2. Where is the node tool?

bobdobbs Posted December 5, 2022 Author Posted December 5, 2022 The Help menu points to the manual. The manual describes the node tool and it's function. It does not describe how to access the node tool. The Help manual points to video tutorials. If there is a video tutorial that describes how to access the node tool, then it is hidden. The Help manual also provides a link to this forum. So suggesting to use the Help menu is just patronising and unhelpful.

It also shows you what it looks like, and it shows on the Tools panel by default when you Open an image. It could also be hiding behind Point Transform, but by default it isn't. So, once you know what it looks like, it's easy to spot. Also, holding the ? R C-R Posted December 5, 2022 Posted December 5, 2022 @bobdobbs, by default, in the Affinity apps some of the tools in the tools panel are grouped together to save space. Each of the ones that do show a small triangle in their lower right corner (like the one shown in the screenshot by @Marc L above). To switch to another tool in the group you can either click & hold on the tool icon until the submenu with the others appears or click directly on the triangle. This is 'sticky,' meaning the last selected tool will remain the selected one until you change it. You can also customize the Tools panel using the View > Customize Tools menu item (not the customize toolbar one) to add columns or replace the grouped tools with individual ones or to use both.
