Hello,

I recently bought a Canon R6 Mk ii and when trying to develop RAW and C-RAW files, they appear purple and have a border on the left and upper areas of the image. JPGs seem to work just as expected.  (.CR3 and JPG samples attached)

Canon Support said this happens when new cameras are released since the software vendors have to revise their platforms to include compatibility for the new models once they come out. However, several reviews on YouTube show RAW examples that don't seem to have any issues.

Welcome to the forums @Macro4

How severe is the Pinkish tint on your RAW files? The example uploaded by Eric the Red (the first linked post in MikeTo's post), adjusting the white balance in the Develop Persona took the tint out. AP is not reading that information correctly, so it's applying a heavy magenta tint.

See …

… the R6 mark ll is pretty new and thus not yet among the list of by LibRaw supported Canon cams. It will take some time until it will be fully supported too by libraw, which APh 1/2 is in turn based on for RAW processing!

Hi Ron, The pinkish hue is even a bit worse than the example of Treitone. See the attached file

It is a little worse, but I think it's workable. Have you tried playing with the White Balance in the Develop Persona? AP is reading the Tint in these newer Canon cameras almost all the way magenta, ~45 or greater. Just back the Tint down watching the image.

However looking at your screenshot, it really doesn't have much magenta (tint), it just appears dull, lacking contrast. What settings do you have in the Develop Assistant? Do you have the Tone Curve and Exposure Bias enabled or set to Take no Action ? Try enabling them and see what you think. I don't because I want to control those for my images.

I have exactly the same issue ( purple haze )  with the canon R6 mark 2 and ON1 PHOTO RAW 2023

Same with me (R6 mark II and ON1 PHOTO RAW 2023)

I got the following answer from ON1 support:

"We'll be adding this camera with our next update, due out late January.
Currently not supported. Thanks for your patience while we work to add support.
You could convert to DNG via Adobe's free DNG converter as a workaround."

Just got my r6ii today and also have the same issue with Affinity Photo.

Discussion on this topic started in November 2022. We are now 6 months into it. When can we expect that the issue will be solved?

Unfortunately the Canon R6 Mark ii is still not currently supported by LibRAW (which Affinity uses to develop RAW files) and therefore this camera model is not officially supported in Affinity at this time.

Once LibRAW have added support for this camera model, we can then add support for this within Affinity - though we're unable to provide any timescale for this as it depends on the LibRAW team.

I hope this clears things up!

Facing the same distorted colours issue with Canon  EOE R6 ii in Affinity photo.

Welcome to the forums, :)

Yep, unfortunately LibRAW does not support it. So until LibRAW supports it, AP can not.

This is a bug in Affinity Photo v1 and while LibRaw hasn't officially announced support for the Canon R6 Mark 2, preliminary support was added on the 23rd December 2022 and the RAW files seem to be open without issue in Affinity Photo v2.1.

Hi together,

I bought the r6 mk2 in November and the problem with Affinity V1 persists. Are we now forced to upgrade to V2? When will there finally be an update for Affinity V1?

Thank you for your reply. But why it is possible to open the raw files from this camera with Affinity V2? I understood from the posts above that the Serif team wanted to add the canon r6 mk2 support to the V1 version. But after your post, I understood that this falls under the "feature updates" and there are no more plans to add this in V1.

Is there a plan for this or not?

Which post are you inferring this from?

Because V2 uses the updated/added LibRAW library?

So here we are December 2023 and mine doesn’t work. Do I need Affinity V2 or just learn photoshop now?

That's just your choice.

Expecting this feature to be implemented in V1, whose development was officially ended more than a year ago, is not very hopeful.

APh v2.x and the underlayed used/needed LibRaw library don't yet support that Canon R6 Mk ii camera, also macOS Sonoma doesn't support it yet ...

... thus just use the accompanied Canon Digital Photo Professional (DPP) software, or some other RAW processor (LR, C1 ... etc.) in order to process Canon R6 Mk ii RAWs.
