Convert to Curves very buggy since uprgade to V2

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Convert to curves not does not have a short cut by default since upgraded to version 2. Also it does something strange when you converting to curves text that is grouped with a shape.

For some reason it moves the converted text to the back of the shape so it messes up the desired result and make it difficult to apply curves fast to many layers of text.

Welcome to the Forums @LZ777.  I have just come across your post and have tested this out.  I have made a short video to show what I have found.  If you place text on top of a shape and then select both the text layer and the shape layer, and group, and then OPEN THE GROUP and click on the text and shape layers and then Convert to Curves, you will be able to easily work on the text.  On the other hand, if you place the text, select both text and shape layers, and group, and then CLICK ON THE CLOSED GROUP and Convert to Curves, you will get an unworkable result.  Was this your issue?

Hi @jmwellborn, I don't think it's so much that you get a result that you can't use, it's more that you lose the fill on the text when you convert it to curves if part of a group. Simply applying a fill to the text 'resolves' the issue, though I would still class this as a bug... I can't see any logical reason or benefit for text in a group to lose its fill when converted to curves since it doesn't do so when it's not part of a group... :)
