All indications are that that's intentional. The Rectangle and Ellipse shapes each have their own icon in Tools for AD, unlike in AP.

This inconsistency makes little sense to me. Rectangle and Ellipse are unstacked in Designer but not in Publisher or Photo. It makes sense for Photo not to have un-stacked shape tools because shapes are used less frequently in a photo editor. Publisher has the shortest Tools panel so there's definitely room for Rectangle and Ellipse. I'd argue that a regular Rectangle tool would be used by more people than the Ellipse Picture Frame tool.

I don't think the space savings are important enough to have an inconsistency but it's not a big deal, I can find the tools when I need them.

Yes, but then if you need to use the Rectangle or Ellipse Tool, you "must" put them on the Toolbar as separate icons, where of course they take up valuable space - where other important tools won't fit. Not only is this a pointless and unnecessary inconsistency between ASuite applications (or even between Personas within one application), but it also significantly limits the usability of the Toolbar, which I cannot configure according to my needs.

By the way, it is this same way in V1. Photo has the Rounded Rectangle, Rectangle, and Ellipse included in the "multi" shape tool. Designer does not.

But unlike version 1, where there was no need to place anything on the Tool panel anymore (there were no other tools available to place on the panel, so there was no need to group the shape tools), version 2 added a lot of useful tools (thanks for those) which are far more useful on the panel than the Rectangle and Ellipse tools. So compared to version 1, in version 2 it is a much bigger bug/mistake in the design (and it is not just an unnecessary inconsistency between applications/personas), that the Rectangle and Ellipse tools are not part of the Shape tools group.

Just to clarify, the Rounded Rectangle Tool is part of the multi-shape group in ADesigner as well, see my screenshot in the first post. So it's really just the Rectangle and Ellipse Tool, which are two positions that can be used for more useful tools.

Just to add - APhoto (new version 2.5.3) has the ability to define tools for all individual shapes, and yet its common/multishape tool contains all these shapes - including rectangle and ellipse.

On the other hand, ADesigner does not include these basic shapes in the common/multishape tool.

So this is an obvious and unnecessary mistake.
Thanks in advance for the correction.

P.S. Thank you for the fix - correct naming of the panel.
