jimh12345
I'm using the Selection Brush Tool to cut out objects with complex borders. With a little practice, it works well. I've been trying to help it along by putting a background of a contrasting color behind the object when I photograph it - for example, if the object is mostly blue, I'll put some orange paper behind it. This doesn't hurt, but I'm not sure it really helps either. Is the Selection Brush tool sensitive to a color boundary or is it just looking for edges in the luminance? jmwellborn
@jimh12345 The Selection Brush Tool is sensitive to edges. The Flood Select Tool is the one that responds most to color. At least that is the way I work with them. I am sure that there are others on these forums with far more photographic experience than I have, who will be better able to advise you, when they see your post. There have been so many thousands of posts since V2 was introduced in early November that many have been missed. Hopefully this "bump" will invite new attention! Dan C
Hi @jimh12345, Thanks for your post and our sincerest apologies for the delayed response here. We are exceptionally busy following the release of V2 and we thank you for your continued patience and understanding here. I'm not privy to the exact code that controls this tool, however as I understand it will 'detect edges' based on a few factors, with contrast being more important than the colour of the pixel - but I believe that both are taken into consideration by the algorithm that controls this. If you wish to visually see the edges the app is detecting in your image, you can do so using Filters > Detect > Detect Edges which may provide more insight based on your specific images. I hope this helps
