Czur Shine Ultra document scanner to Publisher?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Please, can you give me some advice about direct scanning from Czur Shine Ultra Document scanner to Affinity Publisher 2 Windows.

When I scan a document directly with the software included in the scanner, I scan to the local hard drive. However, it should be very nice if I can within Publisher scan a document. So I scan, and the document appears in Publisher.

For your information, I also have Designer 2 and Photo 2. I looked in both apps but none of them has a scanning option. I think what I want to do is not possible, however, I like to ask but it will save me a lot of time.

Thank you so much in advance.

Chris

That's only available on Macs. Affinity on Windows does not have the ability to scan directly into the apps. The reasoning is TWAIN technology. Just too many variables to be able to write that into the Affinity products.

Affinity Photo 2.4..; Affinity Designer 2.4..; Affinity Publisher 2.4..; Affinity2 Beta versions. Affinity Photo,Designer 1.10.6.1605 Win10 Home Version:21H2, Build: 19044.1766: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-5820K CPU @ 3.30GHz, 3301 Mhz, 6 Core(s), 12 Logical Processor(s);32GB Ram, Nvidia GTX 3070, 3-Internal HDD (1 Crucial MX5000 1TB, 1-Crucial MX5000 500GB, 1-WD 1 TB), 4 External HDD

You might check if CZUR provides a way to invoke an application to process the resulting scan. If so, you could point it to Photo 2 using the App Execution Alias, or to aflaunch.exe if you install it from the forum. (A forum search for aflaunch.exe should find it.)

Publisher and Publisher 2 don't directly open image files, e.g., via File > Open. I'm not sure how they behave if you try to send such a file to them, though I suppose they might open it. I should try that sometime :)

@Ron P. and @walt.farrell,

Thank you both for your answers. The Czur software does not provide scanning to an external application. What I did as a solution, I choose a  directory where the scans will be saved, so that I can easily open them with Photo.

One other question, in what quality do I save the scans? Low - Moderate - High? Finally, I will create a pdf and print them. Will moderate enough or do I choose high? Thank you for your advice.

That's what I do!

I always scan as high as (practically) possible. It will depend on how you are using the scans (printed physical size etc), but I normally scan at twice the final resolution that I want, so normally 600dpi. After they have been edited, I save them at 300dpi.
