PhotoHobby Posted November 25, 2022 Posted November 25, 2022 When converting the color profile in Affinity Photo 2 the channel background options: Background AOpponent, Background BOpponent and Background Lightness are no longer available like they were in Affinty Photo 1. Is there another way to gain access to the grayscale layer and masking layer options in Affinity Photo 2? Quote
PhotoHobby Posted November 25, 2022 Author Posted November 25, 2022 I noticed the ARW file opened simply as file_name.ARW in AP2. In Affinity Photo 1 it was referred to as the background which enabled access to the above mentioned background options discussed in the LAB tutorial. Quote
RichardMH Posted November 25, 2022 Posted November 25, 2022 It works for me. Try clicking on something else like Info and clicking back to channels. The .ARW I suppose indicates you can go back to the develop persona and re edit the raw file if you've chosen the right options. Quote
PhotoHobby Posted November 26, 2022 Author Posted November 26, 2022 Rasterizing the raw file will make the AOpponent, BOpponent and LIghtness background channels available as in AP1. What was interesting was the raw file left unrasterized was measurably more saturated in AP2 than AP1. I'm not sure why the process has been changed but it may not be a bug. Quote
PhotoHobby Posted November 26, 2022 Author Posted November 26, 2022 While going directly to converting the raw document to LAB/16 in AP1 allowed me to get to the background properties assigned to the channel subcolors described above it didn't in AP2 to my knowledge. But when I followed James Reston's method to first assign the ROMM RGB color profile and then convert the document to LAB/16 the background: lightness, AOpponent and BOpponent methods are still available in AP2. What's more the color profile is strikingly better when the correct steps are taken. Quote
Staff Callum Posted February 16, 2023 Staff Posted February 16, 2023 Hi PhotoHobby, I can't seem to replicate this problem here. Please could you confirm if this still occurs using 2.0.4? Thanks C Quote Please tag me using @ in your reply so I can be sure to respond ASAP.
PhotoHobby Posted February 16, 2023 Author Posted February 16, 2023 @Callum Just now checking with two photos. This only applies to AP2 for the purpose of discussion. I open an ARW file and go to develop personna. I use ROMM RGB by default. I can currently at least change the profile from Document/convert doc/ICC Profile in the menu and a composite version of Lightness, AOpponent & BOpponent are available in Channels. If I first rasterize the background file which for my purposes has not carried over the naming convention from AP1 but instead simply refers to the open file as "Imagename.arw", than I get Composite versions of Lightness, AOpponent, BOpponent plus what used to appear in AP1 filename Lightness, filename AOpponen, filename BOpponent. I"m quite certain there were no choices for the LAB channel properties for Lightness, AOpponent or BOpponent when I wrote the initial question unless I rasterized the file. For the sake of discussion as long as I can get the results I want from rasterizing I'm good. If there's anything else let me know. Thanks... Quote
