Warp Group - Limited Applications (to do more with them)

I would like to see the warp group feature extended with an option (at a group level) to choose whether to warp the entire shape(s), or to warp only their midpoints, or midpoints + rotation.  This way you could take a group of objects and use the warp group to shape the arrangement of the objects without distorting the objects themselves.

Extending this further with an option to create a warp group by extruding the edges from an existing path object might provide some interesting options (that is, if you have a curve, the warp group would be created with the shape of the curve, made to some thickness)?

But from what I understood from recent staff posts, this rudimentary 1st iteration is just the beginning.
