Asset Collection for Affinity?

Recommended Posts

It’s not stupid or incomprehensible, it’s just in the wrong place, where people might not be looking.

The Resources section of the forums is for people posting things for other people to use, rather than requests.

Questions are better asked, and answered, in one of the Questions sections of the forums.

A moderator will probably move this thread for you when they see it.

Also, I think the problem is that the question is a bit vague. Assets can be all sorts of things, in different formats etc and most people want them for a specific purpose or to use for things that they regularly use in multiple projects. To be honest, I've never come across any collections of Assets, specially designed for Affinity with, basically, a bit of everything in them! It's also worth keeping in mind that large numbers of Assets can take up a lot of space. so it's probably better to only add ones you actually need, rather than large collections, just in case you want them later. For occasional use it may be better to have folders with various items to use in your projects, rather than adding everything as Assets.

Yes, I understand these arguments very well, and I think I want to take them to heart. But isn't there a vendor that offers these assets (sketch, icon, symbols etc.) so that you could quickly grab the elements you want from within the Affinity programs? You need a star, a cross, a car, a group of people, etc. quickly.

Of course, I can just search the big internet for generic providers, log in, pay and download.

Simply asking for a "good and wide collection of assets" doesn’t tell anyone what you actually want.

Do you want vector-based assets, or bitmaps, or SVG-based assets, or something else?

Do the assets all need to follow the same artistic style, or not?

If they should follow the same artistic style, which style should they follow? Long shadow, flat, cartoonish, realistic, monochrome, etc. etc.?

Your idea of a "wide" collection may not be the same as that of other people. How "wide" exactly? Should it include, or not, for example, submarines, farm animals, flags of the world, computer networking components, sports equipment, hubcap designs, building supplies, etc. etc.?

Your idea of a "good" collection may not be the same as that of other people. How do you measure "good’?

Basically you are asking for ‘a bunch of unspecified stuff’ and that’s not enough for anyone to advise on.

I imagined this to be too easy. Back in the day, Micrografix had included a collection of clipart with the designer at the time. Of course, not necessarily for a professional use.

But this much I understood that Affinity has no preferred supplier.

Ok, I withdraw this question!
