Please fix the number of times you have to switch tools to use the Colour and Style picker. Ideally, you could switch to the Move tool by holding Ctrl (instead of adding to the swatches panel). Toggling tools requires one button instead of two. Another option is to turn both tools in a sampling mode (regular click) and apply mode (alt click). The apply mode then applies the colour or appearance to the object under the cursor.

This current tool switching gymnastics should really be avoided.

Sorry, but I must not understand how you're using the tools. What tool switching is needed in your workflow, and why?

Consider this workflow where you have to make a legend from a map (i.e. change the appearance of some objects to confirm to others on the canvas).

I'm purposely not using hotkeys to show the frequency of switching. Ideally, I'd be able to toggle the Move tool with Ctrl here.

Hi Intuos,

as far as the new style picker is concerned there is a way to load the picker with ALT key pressed. Then unload (drop) the last loaded style onto the target object without modifier key pressed. There is NO need to select the target object! Just unload the pipette.

This way you could achieve the above workflow without changing the tool. Pick style with ALT key from the map, apply style without ALT key onto the rectangle in the legend.

In the header toolbar you can check/select the style features you want to work with. If you only want to transfer colors, just uncheck the other features.

Nontheless it would be helpfull to be able to temporarily switch to the move tool by pressing CTRL (STRG) to select objects on the fly. This is a typical hotkey and applies to most of the other tools to.

EDIT

Just found out, that for the color pipette the CTRL key modifier creates a new swatch color in the document color palette. So this is a reserved modifier key for this tool ?!
