Publisher V1 + V2: Extension of placed images

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am wondering why images that are placed via the Place Image Tool are with and images that are placed by drag + drop directly from the finder into the document are without extension (.Tif, . jpg ...) in the Layers Window? Can I change this to always see the extension?  Does anyone know that?

Thanks

(I first thought it could be changed in the Preferences "Automatically hide extension". This is why the Pref. Window is also in the screenshot. But that is for the file extension.)

The file extensions show on Windows, so it's something specific to Mac, but I don't know what.

The layer actually does not have an extension, so it is just a naming inconsistency -- IOW, only documents actually have extensions. Document layers do not have individual file extensions.

If I reimport the drag'n'dropped extensionless image by using the Resource Manager, the Layers panel will update to display the extension.

MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2

... "reimport"? I can update or replace the images in the resource manager. And yes, doing this will then show the extensions in the layer window. A bit circuitous, but thanks.
