Startup-Window: Recent Documents doesn't display any files

Hi,

not sure if this is a bug or a misunderstanding on my end:

When I start Publisher and click on "Recent" (clock icon) in the startup windows, I do expect a list of the recently used files, but only get a blank window (there are recent files, when I go the the main menu and select "file -> open recent" they are listed).

Something is wrong because it says "Account" in the Title and you're missing the left sidebar. Try this.

  1. Choose File > New - the New Document version of the window should appear with New Document in the title
  2. Click Account in the left nav - the Account version of the window should appear with Account in the title. It should show your name as the licensee on the left, any add-ons you have on the right, and the version number in the upper-right corner. Is this okay?
  3. Now click Recent - what do you see? does it have Account in the title or Recent Files?
  4. If it has Account in the title, close the window and choose File > Open Recent > Clear Menu. Then try it again, perhaps there was something in the recent history that was causing the problem.

The left sidebar re-appears, when i click on account -- when I select "Recents" it reverts back to what you see on the screenshot, when I click on "Account" the window goes back to normal ... didn't mention this, but please consider it part of the bug report. 🙂

I'm not from Serif but yours is the second post I've seen with this same screenshot of a messed up Account/Recent Files panel, where you have a combination of the Recent Files and Account panels at the same time and with no recent files shown. To me, it looks like Affinity has either saved or loaded its new document / recent files panel data incorrectly.

This is not a supported approach but I've done this several times myself so if you want to try it go ahead but if you're unsure you should wait for Serif to respond.

  1. Quit Publisher 2
  2. Using Finder, open: Macintosh HD/Users/<username/Library/Application Support/Affinity Publisher 2/
  3. Delete the files:
    1. newdocumentpanelstate.dat
    2. mru.dat
  4. Start Publisher 2

Deleting these files should clear out your settings for New Document and Recent Files. If you'd changed your default paper size from A4 to Letter it will be back to A4. If you had recent files in your menu they will be gone. If this doesn't fix it, then you'll have to wait for Serif to provide assistance.

Good luck!
