I guess this question isn't really specific to Affinity, but Affinity apps can use OpenCL so it gets affected by the issue.

My laptop is sold as a "gaming laptop" rather than a "creator" or "studio" laptop, so even though there's not much difference in hardware it comes setup with "gaming" drivers/config instead of "studio" drivers/config.

I want to use it for both games and different apps that need OpenCL/CUDA, but the OpenCL/CUDA apps typically need error-free math (whereas graphics rendering doesn't).

I guess I should probably sign up on an Nvidia forum and see what they say, but I figured I'd ask here anyway in case anyone has any experience with this situation where you need the GPU for stuff other than games, and want it optimized for OpenCL/CUDA at times, but also want it optimized for games at other times.

The studio driver works with any of Geforce. it's just optimized for creators' apps.
As far as I know, Affinity works well with the gaming driver and the gaming driver is also optimized for Affinity.

From looking at the Nvidia site, it sounds like studio drivers aren't really "optimized" for anything, theyre just a more stable snapshot of the driver branch that doesn't get updated with game-only driver enhancements/fixes. Therefore they're less likely to contain bugs introduced by a "game" "hotfix" etc. So both are supposed to work, but "studio" is like "stable" and "game ready" is more like "beta" in serious work environment terms.

Nvidia seems to recommend using "game ready" if you are using both games and other GPU-using apps, and only seems to recommend "studio" if you're using only "creative" apps (such as on a work computer).
