geordiejim
I am not a Graphic designer so don't need Affinity Designer. Can you tell me when Affinity Photo will be available. I currently use Aperture...
Raskolnikov
For what i have heard ... in 7-8 weeks starts the public beta, we can then download it and start using it.

Quarian
Fast question... I'm a photographer as well as a designer, will Photo have the type of image management features common to tools like Aperture? It's already been stated that it will have the retouching and standard photo production tools. For example, right now I work in either Aperture or AfterShot Pro--depending on if I'm on a Mac or a PC at the time--and I'll do any retouch work in either Pixelmator or the GIMP. Staff TonyB Posted October 11, 2014 Staff Share Posted October 11, 2014 Affinity Photo doesn't have any photo management but will work with Aperture, iPhoto and hopefully Apple Photos next year. We wanted to focus on editing and developing photos.
Raskolnikov
Would it able to manage (editing) RAW images too? :) ronniemcbride
psaldari
CMYK? Photoshop plugins?
000
Yes, psaldari, both. rui_mac
rui_mac
I'm sooooooo curious into seeing if I will be able to completely ditch Photoshop ;) I have been using Photoshop since version 1.0 and I even give Photoshop classes to amateurs and professionals. However, if Affinity Photo proves a worthy contender, I will not need Photoshop anymore in my computer. Staff TonyB Posted October 11, 2014 Staff Share Posted October 11, 2014 Yes, Affinity Photo will support RAW. Not sure if AndyS has tried CMYK Photoshop plugins yet but I don't see why we shouldn't be able to support them. retrograde
I'm wondering how much digital painting features will factor in Photo...? Brushes, mixing, stuff like that there... :) CartoonMike and ronniemcbride 2 Quote http://www.kevincreative.com https://www.behance.net/kevincreative https://dribbble.com/kevincreative https://www.instagram.com/kevincreative/
Staff TonyB Posted October 12, 2014 Staff Share Posted October 12, 2014 We will have an upgraded brush engine, new brush sets and a new colour mixing brush for Photo. The history brush in Photo I will also be very useful for digital painting.

Flaz
Hi, with Affinity Photo will be able to work also with vectorial tools just like Affinity Designer? What are the main differences in this regard?
Staff TonyB Posted October 23, 2014 Staff Share Posted October 23, 2014 Affinity Photo will still have a selection of vector tools but the output will always be pixels.

Thanks TonyB, so, saving in .pdf will make all raster? If so I think AD and APhoto will differ-complement each other better than photoshop-illustrator (for what I know photoshop can export in vector, passing in the field of illustrator purpose). Coconut42
Here's hoping that the combination of Affinity Photo and Apple Photos will be more than a replacement for Aperture! Can't wait to get my hands on Affinity Photo :-)
Paranoid_Android
Can I import Photoshop Actions to Affinity Photo? Would be the deal breaker for me.

retrograde
One thing I like about photoshop is the separate "Paths" palette and the way it handles path creation. Very similar to illustrator. Paths can be copied and pasted in and selected and used as selections on any layer. This is good for mimicking traditional "airbrush" workflows. I'm hoping "Photo" will have a similar styled setup allowing Designer's paths to come in as paths and not be restricted to special "vector" layers only. Any insight on this Tony? Cheers. Staff Ben Posted December 11, 2014 Staff Share Posted December 11, 2014 You can achieve the same thing already by creating a curves layer with no fill or line, then add a pixel layer as a child to it. The pixel layer will be masked by the path on the curve layer. Alternatively, you could just add a curve node as a crop to your pixel layer. That way you can easily copy and paste your path mask if you need to use it across multiple pixel layers. 000 1 Quote SerifLabs team - Affinity Developer Software engineer - Photographer - Guitarist - Philosopher iMac 27" Retina 5K (Late 2015), 4.0GHz i7, AMD Radeon R9 M395 MacBook (Early 2015), 1.3GHz Core M, Intel HD 5300 iPad Pro 10.5", 256GB

Brian D
Will it be an open public beta, or a closed beta where we need to join a list? If the latter, is there someplace that I can add my name to the list? My Adobe CC renews in February, I'm already in love with Designer (though I'd love artboards), so if Photo covers the rest for me then I won't bother renewing CC, as it stands I've already downgraded to the PS+Lightroom package. Dave Harris
Affinity Photo will be a public open beta, run from this forum. There will be a lot of synergy between the two apps, so we hope it will engage with users of Affinity Designer. Brian D
