FAQ: File associations being mixed up - solution found

If using the Files app and when you tap on an Affinity file and the wrong app is opening  e.g. V1 when you want to use V2 or you receive a permission error, create one or more of the IOS Shortcuts.  There are several guides on how to create IOS Shortcuts that I will not go through here, but the Shortcuts I use to fix the file association problem are shown here.

Once you have create the required shortcut, first close all open Affinity apps, then:-

From the Files app, long press on the problem file, select share then browse to the appropriate shortcut. The file will then open in the app of your choice.......

AND

iPadOS remembers this so next time simply tap your file in the Files app and the correct app will open without using the shortcut

UNTIL

the next time you use another shortcut. So if you switch between opening in V2 and V1 apps or opening .afpub files in Designer then iPadOS will remember that. Fix is to reset file association using the steps above.
