Hi

Just purchased Affinity 2.
Downloaded the 3 msix files.
How can I install Affinity 2,  on my Windows 8.1 PC.
I looked for a msix installer for Windows 8.1 but was only cycling the web.😊
Can affinity 2 be installed on Windows 8.1?
And eventually how can I do that?

Thanks

Michel

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums.

Sorry, but the V2 applications are not supported on Windows 8.1 and won't run there. They require Windows 10 or 11 at specific release levels, as documented in the Affinity Store in the Tech Specs listing for the applications:

I searched High and low looking for minimum/compatible specs before upgrading to V2 and couldn't find them anywhere. So I bought the universal lic. for all 3.

My main DTP unit runs Windows 8.1 and needed to install MSIX core to attempt to install. Reading the above post it seems I now cannot use V2 on this system which sucks and is basically useless. I have other Win10 systems but prefer the Win8.1 for stability and other attachments. This SHOULD have been made more obvious before committing to purchase. I have no intention to "upgrade" the DTP PC due to it's stability and reliability (and not generally internet connected).

I now need to install it on my very powerful gaming rig but then I don't have the tablet, screens, 3D mouse and seating position (and viewing for spectators) required to realistically work efficiently.

Can you please show me where the tech specs mentioned above are found??

Obvioulsy not high enough or low enough by me.

I was muted by the header from the V2 purchase and features page where the header looks almost the same but excludes the "tech Specs" button.

Many thanks for your response.

I am seeing another post where there will/might be MSI installers. Can I assume win 8.1 will still be a no-go with these?

Cheers Cam

Given that 8.1 support will end in about 1 month, I really wouldn't expect Serif to change its decision.

One of the Developers said that Windows 10 is required for the apps to function.

I love Affinity 1, and bought Affinity 2 package straight away on the assumption it would work on my pre Window 10 machine, just as Affinity 1 does. Feel rather cross that I didn't read the small print and wasted my money. My fault at the end of the day, though might be worth making it a bit more obvious for those of us who love the product and upgrade automatically without digging into the details.
