AP2 not installing NIK4 suite properly

Recommended Posts

  • 4 weeks later...

I'm not a Mac user, so really can't provide any information why it's not working. I've not had any problems with them on Windows. When I installed them, back when Google first released the Nik Collection free, I installed it, which installed to the Program Files>Google folder on my system. That's where they remain and have worked in all versions of AP.

The Plug in window shows  Requires. How to overcome this please. I am on Mac version.

The Plugins Support Folders is usually set to the root of the drive  so it shows just a slash like this:

Otherwise, you will need to find every folder that the plugin has a dependency on & add them individually. Just adding the /Applications folder won't usually be enough to do that.

I believe the word 'Requires' should read 'Requires Global'. (There's something a bit buggy about the Settings interface: on my machine running Ventura, paths aren't shown completely unless you hover over them.)

The following is from the Help for Using Plugins (which needs updating as it still refers to Settings as "Preferences"):

To allow access to supporting plugin files:

  1. From the Photoshop Plugins tab, under the Plugin support folders box, click Authorise Global.
  2. The folder dialog will default to root ("Macintosh HD"). You can click Authorise here and access to support files will be applied recursively, or you can specify a particular directory that contains the support files.
  3. Press Close.

Once I'd done that and restarted Photo v2, Color Efex Pro 4 and Analog Efex Pro 2 went green and are now available in my Filters-Plugins menu.

I think it just means it requires some plugin support folder item(s).
