Book Panel - Crash the Second

Ich wollte die Möglichkeiten, ein Buch zu gestalten testen und habe dafür von einer kleinen selbst erstellten Zeitung (4 Ausgaben pro Jahr) zwei Hefte mit je 20 Seiten genommen, um ein „Jahrbuch“ zu erstellen.
Während der Arbeit daran stürzte Publisher mehrfach ab. Ich kann nicht sagen dass es immer beim gleichen –Vorgang war.
Noch trifft mich der Fehler (?) nicht so sehr, da es nur eine Übung war.

I wanted to test the possibilities of creating a book and took two issues of a small newspaper I had created myself (4 issues per year), each with 20 pages, to create a "yearbook".
Publisher crashed several times while I was working on it. I can't say that it was always during the same process.
The error (?) doesn't affect me so much yet, as it was only an exercise.

Did you get any crash reports that might help diagnose the problem?

You can paste this into the Run box you get by pressing Windows +R, or into the address bar in File Explorer: %userprofile%\.affinity\Publisher\2.0\CrashReports\reports

Unfortunately, that happens to me a lot, too. Almost always, on my laptop. Sometimes I get reports on my desktop.

Neue Erkenntnisse

Konnte endlich mein erstes (Test-) Buch erstellen. 

Eine Ursache der bisherigen Mißerfolge war, dass die als Kapital eingefügten *.afpub mit der Vers. 1 erzeugt wurden. Nachdem ich diese in Vers. 2 geöffnet und wieder gespeichert hatte, konnte auch das gemeinsame  Inhaltsverzeichnis für alle Kapitel aktualisiert werden. 

(Dazu wäre es sinnvoll, den Aufruf "Alle Inhaltsverzeichnisse aktualisieren" auch im Bücher-Panel verfügbar zu machen) Es gab aber leider immer wieder kurze Phasen, in den Publisher 2 einfror und dann abstürzte - meist beim Beginn des Exportes.

 

Die Vorschau während des Exportes wurde nicht gezeigt (Fehlermeldung "Vorschau kann nicht erstellt werden").

 

Weiterhin die Fehlermeldung "Fehler beim Öffnen der PDF-Datei". 

 

New findings

I was finally able to create my first (test) book.

One cause of the previous failures was that the *.afpub inserted as capital were created with vers. 1. After I had opened them in vers. 2 and saved them again, the common table of contents for all chapters could also be updated.

(To do this, it would make sense to make the call "Update all tables of contents" also available in the books panel) Unfortunately, there were always short phases in which Publisher 2 froze and then crashed - mostly at the start of the export.

 

The preview during the export was not shown (error message "Preview cannot be created").

 

Furthermore, the error message "Error opening PDF file".

We are aware of a few issues with the books feature, which should be fixed in the next update.
