Hello, I'm currently using Affinity Designer 2 but I can't figure out how the mask / clipping work compared to other designer apps I used.
For clipping I move my layer on top of the shape and the clipping work as expected (screenshot bellow). But then I want to edit the shape used for clipping and I don't find a way to do it (except removing the image from the clipping).

Is there a way to edit the shape after clipping ? Or another way to do while retaining the ability to edit the mask shape ?

Also Is it possible to use a group of layer (or a symbol) as a clipping mask ?

On the far right end of the Context Toolbar there's the option with a checkbox called Lock Children. You have to have your Group selected in the Layers Panel for that option to be visible. Once you check the box to Lock Children, you can then alter the shape you're using to clip your image.

Not that I'm aware of. You can group shapes, and then with the Group positioned above your image, right-click on the Group and select Mask to Below. It will produce a Mask, which is different than a Clipping Mask.

Your Welcome. :)

If you want to keep the shapes as vectors create a compound for them, just hold the alt/option key when pressing one of the geometry keys

I think, perhaps, you might mean to uncheck that box. (Or, "...make sure it is unchecked.") For me (Photo 2, on Windows 10) that box is unchecked by default.

I did find it odd how well hidden that option is. I had to click a right-chevron at the far right of the Context Bar to even see it, and I have a 1920 x 1080 monitor....   Ahhhh.... When the parent is a vector layer, there are so many more items in the Context Bar that the "Lock Children" checkbox is shoved completely off the right side. But, if the parent layer is a pixel layer, then there aren't nearly as many items in the Context Bar, so the "Lock Children" checkbox is practically in the center of the bar.
