Save studio layout.

Recommended Posts

I'd just upgraded to V2 - great stuff, overall very happy.
I noted there is a save stuio preset, which is nice, but I cannot see how to export that?

Is there a way to do that, as setting up the workspace takes quite a bit of time, if its possible to save this, would be super-dooper.

I'm working on little program that will handle backing up and also syncing workspaces (from standalone apps to Publisher). Will post about it on forums when it's ready

Oh, thats interesting. So it would seem there is no backup at the moment.

It’s odd as you can save keyboard shortcuts - but not the desktop workspace (strange priority). Why not just back up keyboard and workspace as these are the things you would want to migrate. I guess its easy to pick holes in the software once done 🙂

At least on mac they are saved in a separate folder called "presets" in files with suffix ".preset".
e.g.: ~/Library/Application Support/Affinity Publisher/presets/com.seriflabs.Studio.Preset.Data2Layout-tab.2201.preset

macOS 10.14.6 | MacBookPro Retina 15" | Eizo 27" | Affinity V1

For windows go here

%UserProfile%\.affinity\Photo\2.0\Workspaces

drop down to Custom and find the relevant files. I keep backups of all the workspace xml's just in case

Have you tried copying the V1 version to the same location for V2? If so, does it work?

I ask because I think I read somewhere that the format for the Studio presets has changed between V1 & V2, & that's why it doesn't migrate.

All 3 1.10.8, & all 3 V2.4.1 Mac apps; 2020 iMac 27"; 3.8GHz i7, Radeon Pro 5700, 32GB RAM; macOS 10.15.7
Affinity Photo
1.10.8; Affinity Designer 1.108; & all 3 V2 apps for iPad; 6th Generation iPad 32 GB; Apple Pencil; iPadOS 15.7

No, sorry, I'm still stuck on Mojave, which is not supported by V2. I hadn't mentioned the file & path for migration reasons (V2: more panels, no separated mode) but rather to detect that piece in the folder structure. But thanks, it's good to know that even the file format had changed from V1 to V2.

Please note that I am not certain of that. Maybe ask a staff member to confirm it?

It works for me on Windows. It won't work with new palettes and tools of course, but you can take it as a base for later building.

Thank you for the information, very interesting.

Perhaps this feature it will get included in an update.

Setting up UI can be tedious, I spend a few hours setting it all in V2.

But at least there is an option to save the current settings, which is great.

that was the first thing I tried when I opened the V2 programmes, how do I get the Studio preset from V1 to V2 and nothing worked, I even ended up playing with the code that is different in V1 from V2, I also test copied only parts. Nothing worked, but appears in the V2 studio selection.
