barcode generator for publisher

Recommended Posts

As most books and magazines use an ISBN or ISSN  with a barcode It would be great if Affinity Publisher had a barcode generator built in.
Is this on the road map for V2 in 2023?  though it would make a great Christmas present for 2022 🙂

Otherwise does anyone know of a Windows Barcode generator that is inexpensive? This is for a quaterly magazine for a charity.

It is very unlikely to come to Publisher. You can use this site:

Thanks for that.
Why is it "unlikely" to come to Publisher?

The last time I looked at Adobe  inDesign there wasn't one in that either so there must be, I assume, a good reason why, what appears to be something trivial, isn't included in these programs?

It has been asked before and never made it to APUB as for the reason I am not sure, Ironically Serif PagePlus has it.

Such a feature is actually not that difficult to create. There are even specialised fonts. Having it built directly into the Affinity suite would be a major bonus, saving us the time of typing the code into a free specialist site and then formatting the image for each book publication.

Ideally a simple highlighting of the number in the book as a page number or whatever should automatically create the barcode with the dimensions, colour, text etc. if the functionality was well designed.

So it it is in Serif Page Plus it can clearly be done.  And Serif have the code for it....

Maybe as others have asked for  it we could see it in APub V2.1?

Swift Publisher offers this too.

QuarkXPress offers this for QR codes only.

As has been discussed previously in the older thread on this from version 1:

For most 1D barcodes this can be done simply by installing and selecting the appropriate font, regardless of the application.

For 2D barcodes (such as QR codes) that is obviously not an option.
