Hello,

I enjoy the Studio Link feature of Affinity, but I don't understand why it's only available through Publisher. I only use Photo and Designer, so I'm wondering if there is an argument/flag that I can pass when calling Publisher so that it will start in the Photo persona instead of defaulting in the Publisher persona.

Something like...

...\Publisher2.exe -photo ".\image.png"

Any tips?

If not, is there something I'm missing in Photo that can provide me a Studio Link type feature across the 3 programs?

Edit:

I did find the File>Edit in Designer option in Photo2, but it's not quite as seamless as Studio Link since it launches an instance of Designer. Still looking for a flag to start Publisher in the Photo persona.

StudioLink is solely a Publisher feature. You have not missed anything, but are wanting something that doesn't exist.

You can, however, pass a png (or jpg, or ...) to Publisher if you want. It will open, and it will be in the Publisher Persona, but it's only 1 click to switch to the Photo Persona. You can also Open them from the Photo Persona in Publisher.

@WirlyWirly StudioLink is only functional if you have Publisher and at least one of the two other apps: Photo and Designer.  If you have Publisher and Photo you can link between those two, but not Designer.  If you have Publisher and Designer, but not Photo, then you can link between those two, but not Photo.

You can definitely switch between Photo and Designer, however by using FILE>EDIT IN DESIGNER, or switch from Designer to Photo by FILE>EDIT IN PHOTO.

Hope this will help!

Thanks for the replies, the main reason I'd like to do this is because using Photo2.exe and the Photo persona from Publisher means I'm juggling 2 different configurations (studio presets, settings, etc) for the same program.

I'll save a studio preset in Photo2.exe, but then when I go into the Photo persona from Publisher that preset never existed. I was hoping to stop using Photo2.exe and only use the Photo persona, that way I'm not juggling configurations between the two.

Hopefully this feature gets added, but until then I think I'll just adjust my perspective so that I'm not thinking of them as 3 separate programs, but instead there's just a single "Affinity" program with 3 different personas. Publisher just happens to be the one that is loaded on start-up.
