Hi @maxen,

I've not been able to replicate your issue yet with subtractive compounds on text/curves on a new document, could you confirm if disabling Hardware Acceleration resolves this (Edit > Preferences > Performance > Untick > Reset App). If not, could you provide me with the file you're encountering the issue on? I can provide a private upload link if need.

Many thanks!

Hi Nathan,

for the reproduceable bug look here and elsewhere ;-)

https://forum.affinity.serif.com/index.php?/search/&q=boolean subtract&quick=1

And a little workaround since it will be fixed:

Hardware: Windows 11 Pro (23H2, build 22631.3880, Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22700.1020.0), Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-14900K @3.20 GHz, 128 GB RAM, NVIDIA RTX A4000 (16GB VRAM, driver 551.61), 1TB + 2TB SSD. 1 Display set to native 2560 x 1440.
Software: Affinity v1 - Designer/Publisher/Photo (1.10.6.1665), Affinity v2 (universal license) - Designer/Publisher/Photo, v2 betas.

I think it's not a problem of the compounds rather of the text conversion. The curves seem to be not closed, although they pretend to be. Trying to fix them does not work because, well, they THINK they are alright already. Maybe it can be broken down to some specific fonts; I didn't test this.

The issue "Boolean Operation fails on text converted to curves" (REF: AFD-6172 & AFD-5816 ) have been fixed/improved by the developers in internal build 2.1.0.1709
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.
