Publisher asks me for a later version but I have the latest

Recommended Posts

Hello, I bought version 2.0 on the day of release and I worked on a file that I have to send to print as soon as possible but I have a problem.

I can't open the file anymore because the program tells me that the file includes functions of a later version of Affinity.
But I have the latest version.

Do you have a solution to be able to open the file in question?

Thank you so much.

I attach a couple of screenshots and the file Forex 150x100.afpub

Just to confirm: You created this file on a desktop version of Publisher 2, and you're trying to use it on that same machine?

What OS do you run?

Seems that Paolo tries to open a document from an extern device (iCloud). Are the known problems, that existed in v1, concerning extern devices, solved in v2?

Unfortunately, I cannot open that file either. I've tried on both iPad and Windows.

Generally Serif have recommended saving to a local drive, then moving the file later to a network location or cloud drive if you need it there. I think you may have saved your file to iCloud, and I wonder if it has somehow been corrupted?

Perhaps someone from Serif will be able to examine your file and figure this out. You're not the first person to have reported this, though I've only seen a few reports.

Thank you very much everyone for the answers.

I created the file with publisher version 1 on a MacBook Pro with Ventura 13.0.1.

Later I updated the suite and made some further changes to the file with the new Publisher version 2.
Suddenly I got that error message.
I normally use dropbox to synchronize files between different computers
and I momentarily moved the file to icloud to test it on an ipad

Thanks again everyone, we hope we can solve ;)

Do you have a copy from before you put it in iCloud? Does that copy still work?

No. Where did it come from, and where was it saved?

Quite normally. Opened this morning without problem, and impossible 2 hours later. A mystery.

Where was it saved?

On the computer

I think what we want to know is if it was saved on the internal startup drive, to a cloud server or what.
