The space after the footnote reference in footnote gets the same character style applied as the footnote itself.

The space should be applied with no character style or his own character style.

Also “no breaking space” should bei offered as space after the footnote reference.

Hi. In my opinion, no style wouldn't be a great idea because users do strange things like set Base to 68pt and then using No Style would make this space much larger than the footnote number to its left and the footnote copy to its right. I think the same character style applied to the footnote makes sense. If you want it wider or narrower you could use a different type of space or change the tracking in the style. Affinity is offering the same options as InDesign for this formatting which is good for eventual importing of IDML footnotes.

If you want a non-breaking space as the separator, just copy one to the clipboard and paste it into the Number Text field. You won't see it in the field other than as a space but it will work. Turn to Show Special Characters and you'll see it between the footnote number and the copy.
