Cutting shapes behaves differently from deleting with node tool

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I have several shapes on a layer and I want to cut some of them out and paste them on another layer. I'm using the node tool to select the desired shapes and when I cut them, it cuts all of the shapes on the layer, not just the ones that are selected. When I hit delete, it only deletes the selected shapes, as expected.

Am I right in assuming that you mean you have one object which is a polycurve (made of more than one curve - like typing the letter 'a' and then choosing 'Convert to Curves') and you select the nodes of just one of those curves and want to 'cut' it, but it's cutting the whole object?

If so, then it's simply because the 'Cut' operation works on objects at present, whereas the 'Delete' operation tells the current tool to delete - which in the case of the Node Tool makes it delete the currently selected curve nodes. We are definitely going to look into this (and more) in the near future :)
