Since the advent of Designer and Photo v2 for iPad, is Affinity Designer and Photo v1.10 to be considered deprecated (obsolete)?  Thank you for Publisher for iPad, it's been worth the wait.

Respectfully,

Welcome to the Serif Affinity forums, @M.R.E..

I'm not sure that obsolete is the right term. The V1 applications still work, and you can keep using them.

However, I don't think they plan to provide further updates. Also, StudioLink in Publisher 2 requires Photo 2 and/or Designer 2. And the V1 apps can't open any native Affinity files created by V2.

Thanks for the reply and I appreciate the welcome. I've already purchased version 2 of Designer and Photo after I pounced on Publisher, I guess what I'm trying to get is, should I delete v1.10 of both? I know it'll free up room, but I have yet to compare functionality between the versions to justify removal of v1.10.

Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Reading the posts, currently some features are apparently working in V1 and buggy in V2. Hopefully to be fixed soon. Having said that, there are many bugs in V1 reported in forum since ios15 introduced that appear not to be addressed. Mods have indicated no further releases for V1 so it’s likely to remain buggy.

In the short term I will keep V1 but once the early V2 bugs are fixed I will remove V1. It can always be reloaded if needed for any reason🙂.

And I bet you'll make sure that you saved everything that's in the V1 sandbox or in the V1 "On my iPad" folders someplace else before you eventually remove it :)
