Glimfeather Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 Hoped that Affinity Publisher 2 would be a great addition to my iPad experience. Unfortunately not. An immediate showstopper on starting the app for the first time. It comes up in a dark mode. I have Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome which means I need specific display settings, which for me is Light Mode. It is my essential choice in iPadOS Settings > Display > …. However, Publisher 2 ignores it! Explored all the app’s preferences for some way to have what I need. Also looked at Settings > General > Publisher 2 but nada. This is clear disability discrimination as Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome (aka Meares-Irlen Syndrome) is a component for many with dyslexia. So after 30 seconds of use Publisher 2 is NOT going to survive on my iPad (and won’t get onto my Macs either). Thankfully I only signed up for the free trial and haven’t wasted my money.
walt.farrell Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 A Light Mode is available in Publisher on your Mac. Unfortunately, though, the iPad V2 apps still have only the dark mode from V1. We had hoped for a light mode, but it hasn't appeared yet. This is certainly not intentional discrimination, merely function they haven't had time or resources to implement. I'm sure they appreciate your feedback, and welcome to the forums. -- Walt Designer, Photo, and Publisher V1 and V2 at latest retail and beta releases PC: Desktop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 64GB memory, AMD Ryzen 9 5900 12-Core @ 3.00 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3090 Laptop: Windows 11 Pro 23H2, 32GB memory, Intel Core i7-10750H @ 2.60GHz, Intel UHD Graphics Comet Lake GT2 and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 Laptop GPU. mackleys Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 I will +1 the request for light mode on iPad apps for similar reasons (though not Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome).
Staff MEB Posted November 12, 2022 Staff Posted November 12, 2022 Hi @Glimfeather, @mackleys, Welcome to Affinity Forums As Walt hinted above there wasn't time to get the light interface ready for v2 release. It's still planed as far as I'm aware but had to be postponed, sorry. Thank you for your feedback. PaoloT, loukash, Frozen Death Knight and 1 other 1 3 A Guide to Learning Affinity Software

But please take note of all the feedback on the Light UI on the desktop version, so that at least some of its UI design flaws get fixed on the iPad right from the start.
