pat5614
I purchased the affinity app on my Macbook Pro but would like to also be able to use it on my Mac desktop. Do I have to buy it again or is there a way to use it on both?
Staff MEB Posted January 18, 2016 Staff Share Posted January 18, 2016 Hi pat5614, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) You can install it on your desktop too. Just make sure you log in the App Store app with the same Apple ID used to buy the app. Leigh 1 Quote A Guide to Learning Affinity Software
Quincy
With the same ID on my laptop as I used to purchase the app for my Mac Pro the app store still indicates $49.95 purchase. Is this somehow settled up later? Thanks,
donka
Provided you are using the exact same Apple ID, if you click on the buy button, once you authenticate yourself with the mac store, it should change from $49.95 to the download icon indicating you already have it. For peace of mind, you could try downloading another free app first as you would still have to authenticate. Now the icon for Affinity should indicate you already own it and can download it without fear of being charged again.
Quincy
That did it. Thanks. Apple have my ID and I'm logged in to iCloud already. Wish they'd recognize that initially instead of waiting for the confirmation login.
Terr
I have just downloaded the free trial of Affinity Photo and so far so go. I would like to know if I can use Affinity Photo on my desk top and also on my Mac Book? I will be attending a course where I need an editing program so need it on my Mac Book for that but I mostly will be using it on my desktop. Staff MEB Posted April 5, 2016 Staff Share Posted April 5, 2016 Hi Terr, Welcome to Affinity Forums :) Yes, you can install and use the software in both your personal desktop and laptop. Make sure you are signed in (in the Mac App Store app) with the same Apple ID you used to buy the app for the first computer. The Affinity Photo trial will only run for ten (consecutive) days. Drthvdr
Hi, I downloaded the trial of photo on my Mac book pro yesterday and liked it alot so I intend to buy it. However I also have a Windows desktop that I hope to be able to use it on when released. Will I have to buy another license then?
Dale
Hi dark lord vdr and welcome to the forums. Yes we currently think it will be necessary to buy separate licenses for Mac and Windows. The App Stores don't play friendly with each other and Apple for one don't share any customer data at all, so we have no straightforward way to manage cross platform licensing. The same will be true for iOS I believe. It's something the team considered when choosing a low price for our apps as part of a suite, so they're affordable when usage grows, planning for one purchase per app per user per platform. Dale.
