Selecting objects below another object at zoom to fit view

Recommended Posts

In Designer v2 I'm trying to select a text object below another text object and when I hover the cursor over the object I want to select and click the object above is always selected. I'm trying to do this at Zoom to Fit view. This does not happen in the previous version of Designer.

Is there a work around or a setting I need to change in the Preferences that I'm not seeing?

I think I've seen other reports of similar problems and somebody from Serif commented that it was being investigated.

It does feel like the selection zone for objects is a bit larger than the actual objects in v2.

For text objects, the selection zone appears to be the body height in v2, not the bounding box.
See

^ And that's a bug, in my opinion.

Well, you can't even call it a "workaround" because the standard Affinity method to select background objects always was Option-click/Alt-click. ;)

MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2

The issue "Layer order affects object selection" (REF: AFP-5621) has been fixed by the developers in internal build "2.2.0.1900".
This fix should soon be available as a customer beta and is planned for inclusion in the next customer release.
Customer beta builds are announced here and you can participate by following these instructions.
If you still experience this problem once you are using that build version (or later) please reply to this thread including @Serif Info Bot to notify us.
