Hello,  Why does it take more than twice as long to load a windows affinity publisher document than it does on Mac OS? I have Windows and Mac on my same machine, iMac.

I'm using the same file for both platforms, photos, fonts and same amount of pages ,around 50 pages. ?? The mac file loads almost instantly.

Thanks Gerard

Hello @Gerard Designs,

Did you try to update Publisher to v2.0.3 and see whether this issue was addressed in the update.

2017 27” iMac 4.2 GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7 • Radeon Pr 580 8GB • 64GB • Ventura 13.6.4.

iPad Pro (10.5-inch) • 256GB • Version 16.4

Hello,  I've updated both versions of Affinity Publisher to 2.0.3 Windows and Mac OS. The Mac version of opening the file is still a lot faster.

Are you still noticing this with update 2.0.4?  In my test, my Windows laptop is opening a test file in the same amount of time as my Mac does.

Also for your Windows install, it may be worth uninstalling the MSIX version and install the MSI/EXE version.  To get the MSI version, see this post and see if it opens your file any quicker :)

How do you tell if you have MSIX  or  MSI/EXE ?

You should know because you had downloaded it and installed it.

You can also start Task Manager while it's running, right-click on it, and choose Open File Location. Then you can see where it's installed.

Or you can right-click on it in the Windows Start menu and choose Uninstall. If you end up in the old Windows Control Panel you have the MSI/EXE version.

Hello ,

Thank you for letting me know there were 2 different versions of the Windows install programs.  I have tried them both, the MSI/EXE version takes up a lot more space on your Hard Drive than the MSIX version.  The mac version still loads faster on my machine but the Windows version loading is not that bad. Really starting to like the style picker for changing type on the fly really fast!

Thanks Gerard

Windows reports an incorrect size for the MSIX version. Both take approximately the same amount of space.
