Automatically match fill and stroke color when needed

Feature request: Automatically matching fill and stroke color when needed

To roughen the edge of a shape requires a stroke made with a textured brush. If the the fill color is changed, the edge color then must be changed to match the fill. Makes for a tedious workflow.

You could use Global colours although the Document Swatch palette would get full if you are using a lot of colours. Another thing is to use the Colour Panel's colour picker to get the new colour from the fill colour well and then click on the Stroke and fill it with that stored colour.

Best would be to be able to roughen the actual shape so no stroke would be needed.

I have never mastered color management, period, so I cannot help with that.

Possible implementation: Currently, the stroke when set to no color, instead of being transparent, it becomes black. Instead, I suggest when setting the stroke to no color (or empty, or whatever this setting is called) then instead of turning the stroke black it matches the fill color. Simple, elegant, makes more sense than black.

Old Bruce: Workable solutions, thanks. But still too fiddly. —— As you say, best would be the ability to roughen the shape. But I think I might like it as a live filter (if possible) so I can easily tweak the line again without having to manipulate a bunch of nodes created by a Roughen Tool. But if a Roughen Tool is ever included, then I’d hope it comes with some kind of sculpting tool to push and pull the multi-noded rough line. Would help a bunch to re-shape the vector shape as needed. Inkscape has such a feature. The sculpt tool, if I recall, is a circle that could be adjusted in size, and when pushed against a line of nodes would nudge them.

I honestly cannot remember which application it was but there was a Roughen tool for vectors which allowed me to go back and time and time again and fiddle with the settings, even remove the roughening. If I was happy with it I could make it permanent.
