stojames
I took a photo restoration class a while ago. Class used photoshop, but I did all my work with Affinity Photo v1. I have a damaged image provided in the class here. I did my restoration work on it and then I tried colorizing it on my own (not an assignment for this image). I have been restoring quite a few old family photos. Some are too damaged for me to do anything with. v_kyr, carl123 and Giovanni Pietri

stojames
Thanks. Well, some have parts of photo missing where surface of photo was torn away by tape or something else so I don’t know what person should look like or surrounding area should look like. I try hard though on what I can.

Take it in bits and pieces. Tackle what you know first. Clean up the obvious and then slowly rebuild. Some photos I've work on for hours, stretching across days and even weeks. The sample below I worked on for a client over the course of a month. The plaid wasn't easy, especially where it creased and folded. Could probably do a little more evening out of some bits but the client was happy so. . . .
stojames
Nice job @dannyg9. I had to redraw some of the white stripes on navy guy above and I know from others I have done about trying to fix areas like your plaid jackets can be tedious. Having to do tile walls and floors for example too or rug patterns, etc. dannyg9
