Did Affinity Photo V2 support older NIK Plugins?

Recommended Posts

@loukash

I don't know how to find any files other than the actual nik apps in my app folder on my old macbook which has PS6 as well as APv1.  I've searched Library/Application Support with no success.  Where can I look for whatever other files I need to get it to work on my Ventura macbook air with AP2 and if I find them, where do I drop them to be recognized.  What I have is:

I copied these into the AP2 plugins folder but they still are not getting recognized.

This is what shows up in my AP2 settings:

Locate a directory on your computer that contains files with the .8bf extension.

If you can't find this directory, then the NIK collection is not installed properly.

Because what you show in the screenshot are the stand-alone programs.

Moved on but still nothing working.  I found the Nik files under Google Plugins on my old macbook, copied them to my new macbook in the AP2 plugins folder.  Pointed to them and restarted AP2 and it looked like it accepted TWO of them:

So I opened a photograph and tried to open Color Efex Pro 4, one of the 'Working' plugins.  Nothing happened.  Just sat there as if I hadn't done anything.

Also I searched both computers for files with .8bf extensions - no luck at all.

.8bf files are used on Windows, only.

You may want .plugin files, but I'm not sure of that as I don't use Mac.

@jellevant has already solved it here:

MacBookAir 15": MacOS Ventura > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // MacBookPro 15" mid-2012: MacOS El Capitan > Affinity v1 / MacOS Catalina > Affinity v1, v2, v2 beta // iPad 8th: iPadOS 16 > Affinity v2

Yep - all working fine.  Thanks to all.  (I thing an issue is that terminology is 1) different for mac and windows 2) little (BIG) things like Rosetta - does everyone but me already know that is needed to run pre-silicon chip software?  I'd never heard of it until last night. ) Anyway, again, thank you all for solving my nik problem.
