StudioJason
Noticed this mainly on Affinity Photo V2 (and on Designer)… When typing in Text, if you come to the end of a word and type a pause break like this >” And this happens… “ whereby you input three periods at the end, it will often input four automatically…to which when you delete/backspace one, it instantly deletes all of them and the last letter of the last word as well. ‘Know you have bigger fish to fry…is just an irritating situational thing, so no urgency. Staff EmT Posted November 21, 2022 Staff Share Posted November 21, 2022 Hi @StudioJason Thank you for making us aware of this issue, I've passed it on to the devs for further investigation. Although it is longer to do, you should be able to remove the first period and the last 3 will remain. Alternatively you can import 3 periods from the symbols menu on the keyboard pop up. walt.farrell
@EmT and @StudioJason: That is caused (in my tests) by enabling the iPad Setting General > Keyboard > Smart Punctuation, and does not happen (to me) with that setting disabled. I think it happens because in English, an ellipsis has two forms: 3 dots (...) with a space before and after when it's in the middle of a sentence; or 4 dots (....) with no space before it when it's at the end of a sentence. So, with the setting enabled, when I type word... (with no space) iPad immediately gives me word.... because the lack of a space means the ellipsis needs 4 dots.
