Printe
Hello everyone, I really wanted to make friends with affinity designer today. Is there still no "live paint bucket" alternative? That was the end of the test run for me after two minutes. I need the function permanently... No, a pixelated workaround doesn't belong in my project. I would really appreciate it if someone tells me how blind I am and gives me a keyboard shortcut :) Warm greetings
Markio
As a workaround you could try the Shape Builder tool with the 'create new shape from selected areas' to create a new object, and place that new object underneath your linework. chessboard and Frozen Death Knight
tommy5050
We can now color with the shape builder tool : Select all your lines, click shape builder and the + button, select the place to color and if it doesn't work just press Enter!) blaustift
a live-paint-bucket as one-step-function is an important and missed feature that would be useful in a coming update

Yep! One thing I wish was added however was a setting for increasing the length of lines if they don't interesect while using the Shape Builder Tool so that it is possible to fill in spaces where the vectors aren't closed. I know Blender has something like this when using Grease Pencil, so it would be cool to see in Affinity as well.
tommy5050
You can select the curve and select a color it should be colored even if the curve isn't closed I think the curve must be done in one time because two merged curves doesn't make a good result
Staff Ash Posted February 15, 2023 Staff Share Posted February 15, 2023 Hi - thanks for this feedback. The 2.1 beta has just begun which does include a new vector flood fill. This is a slightly different tool to what you might describe as a "live paint bucket" but does fulfil much of what was being asked for here I think. There are more details in the post below and it would be great if you wanted to try it out in the beta and let us know what you think - you can sign up to the beta program here.
