V2 Upgrades for Recent V1 purchases?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, very recently this June I purchased the whole Affinity Suite of apps.
I only started getting comfortable and learning these amazing tools.
It was the latest V1 and I didn't even get any updates.
However, if I knew V2 was right around the corner, I'd have waited and purchased V2.

I wanted to ask is there going to be a buffer period for customers who recently purchased the software?
I really appreciate the affordable pricing and I love all the softwares, but I'd also appreciate if upgrades can be possible for recent purchases or I will have to rebuy the Universal License.

Best Regards,
Abhijit Singh

When you bought version 1, you also got ALL of the updates that had been released for that version that anybody who paid for it got. You do not need to rebuy anything, but if you WANT to upgrade, you will need to buy version 2. However, you don't have to: version 1 isn't suddenly going to stop working.

Hi Ali, yes I am aware version 1 will not stop working, however, I am looking forward to trying the newer V2 apps. Love using Affinity.
And so my question was, is there a "Recently Purchased Period" for users who very recently purchased the apps, who if were given the knowledge V2 would be 4 months away would have waited, and with that logic, granted V2 upgrade because they very recently purchased.
I just wanted some clarity, otherwise I'll just go ahead and get the V2 updates with new new features.

Thanks for taking the time to reply!

No, there isn't. There are many threads about this today, and Patrick Connor from Serif has expleined the pricing rationale in a couple of them. Do a search for his posts today and you will be able to read this for yourself.

I tried searching but haven't found an answer to what I was asking, just the pricing 40% off rationale like you mentioned.
Some users have gotten an Upgrade Email. And that was my question, what this Recently Purchased Period is so that I know if I qualify or I just conserve my energy and purchase v2.
My only point is I very recently purchased and had I known or if there was communication via team/community I'd have held off my purchase as it is wasteful now that v2 is out.
"No, there isn't" statement by your is contradictory as some users have recieved emails of upgrades.
Maybe we should let somebody from the team clarify who knows the facts in regards to the situation.

None has got an "upgrade" email, other than we know that they own the software so we are telling them that V2 has launched.

Everyone has got the same 40% offer. Nobody has got more or less than that EXCEPT for those who purchased all of the V1 products in the last few weeks who were notified yesterday that they could get V2 for free or vastly reduced, but ONLY them.

May 22.... so almost 6 months of use.

You do not have to buy now (but the launch offer is temporary)

Hi Patrick. Thanks a lot for the clarification! So yeah it's almost 2 quarters, quite some time and only the very recent purchases got the V2.
Just that had I known v2 is right around the corner I'd have waited a little, but it's alright, completely justified.

I'll go ahead and purchase the V2 Universal License.
Keep up with the good work and more power to Affinity.
I really like the softwares!

And thankyou so much Ali for assisting me.

I had no way of knowing this. Patrick's explanation shows why I could not have known this.

Thankyou so much for assisting and helping me Ali.

It's all clear now and I will also help other users with similar concerns.
I'll go ahead with V2 and I am sooo excited to try the new versions!
