There may be an issue with your icon cache,

This guide could help, it's probably worth backing up anything important as always when making system changes.

Well, I've also got this problem. In the start menu in Windows 10 the icons show up correctly.
When I start the program, I only get the icon from my screenshot showing up.
Copying the program in the start menu to the desktop gets me the same icon (screenshot) showing up on the desktop.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Unfortunately, YES.
I used the .bat file. Rebooted my computer. Nothing changed.

I even got through this process for a second time without success ...

I wonder why the programmes are installed here:

  • C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\SerifEuropeLtd.AffinityPhoto2_2.0.0.1640_x64__3cqzy0nppv2rt\App\Photo.exe
  • C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\SerifEuropeLtd.AffinityPublisher2_2.0.0.1640_x64__3cqzy0nppv2rt\App\Publisher.exe
  • C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\SerifEuropeLtd.AffinityDesigner2_2.0.0.1640_x64__3cqzy0nppv2rt\App\Designer.exe

and not here as usual:

  • C:\Program Files\Affinity\Photo2\Photo.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Affinity\Publisher2\Publisher.exe
  • C:\Program Files\Affinity\Designer2\Designer.exe

C:\Program Files\WindowsApps\... is hidden and programmes cannot even be called with administrator rights.
What is the point of this hiding game?
Presumably that is why the icons are not passed to the taskbar.

Because Serif decided that the features offered by the MSIX app technology in Windows 10/11 were beneficial, and decided to use them now that they're no longer supporting Windows 7/8 which could not use those technologies.
