Annoying startup lag is back/not solved

Yesterday I installed the whole V2 suite using the universal license on Ventura 13.0.1 - startup time on a Mac Studio M1 Ultra was ca. 2 seconds for Publisher/Designer/Photo. Today the first start of  all apps fell back to 15 seconds, the second start was 2 seconds.

I thought this nerve wrecking problem should be solved by Ventura / Affinity V2.

Am I alone with this problem?

I'm on a MacBook M1 Pro and it's 2 seconds to start any of the v2 apps, regardless of whether I have just rebooted macOS or I had previously open and quit the apps during this session. I don't know why it would be longer with a Studio M1 Ultra so I can't offer any help.

Download a free manual for Publisher 2.4 from this forum - expanded 300-page PDF

My system: Affinity 2.4.2 for macOS Sonoma 14.4.1, MacBook Pro 14" (M1 Pro)

Oh my … is there nothing you can do about this, Lee? On a 2019 Intel Mac, you can wait for almost half a minute sometimes. Does the sandbox have to be created every time after shutting down and starting up the computer anew? 🙂

(Sorry for that probably somewhat naive question.)

Hi Lee,

I am not using the app store versions - I use the Affinity Store download versions.

If this is caused by the sandbox creation process of macOS - why is only the Affinity Suite affected (and not all other software)?

I always shutdown the computer. Currently the problem happens every few days/times when I startup. I have not found any pattern as to why/when it happens.

Same here (perhaps to add another data-point): If I launch Affinity Photo 2 (or Affinity Designer 2) after ... some days.. of dormancy or after power-up,  then it takes 20-30 seconds to startup!
Once it's up, I close the app, re-launch it and: bang, it's up and running in 2 seconds.
Clearly "something" is written to cache somewhere and allows the app to launch fast but after ... days?... that cache is cleared and it takes a long time to launch again.
I have a MacAir M1, 2020, 16gb Mem, running macOS Monterey 12.6 and Affinity Photo2/Designer v2.0.0 was loaded from App Store.
PS: since I read this "sandboxing" discussion...  for what it's worth... no other app, apple-native (iMovie, Photos, etc) nor non-apple (MS Excel, MS Word) exhibits this lag. It's clearly an "Affinity thing", imho.
