evtonic3
I have to sometimes make tables in AI with data taken from Excel, and AI does a good job of taking Excel cell data and populating it in AI, given they are in the same visual format. What I mean is if I have 2 columns of Excel data and I create a text frame with tabs then they show up correctly in AI. I tried this in AD and it didn't do it. Just curious to see if this is on anyone's radar. Seems like a long shot I know but never hurts to ask!!
Staff DWright Posted January 14, 2016 Staff Share Posted January 14, 2016 Hi evtonic3, If you export your Excel spread sheet as a PDF with printing support you can open this in AD using file open and it will be added as a vectored image Regards, Darren
evtonic3
I am wondering where the printing support option is on Excel 2003 version is? I did what you said and I did get to the data where in fact it is live text, but they are all separate text objects, not good. The convenience is that in excel I can highlight the cells, go over to AI and highlight the frame (text object with tabs), and it populates the fields. evtonic3
Looks like it works when using TextEdit, so if I copy cells from Excel and paste into TextEdit, grab that text the paste that into AD and then it is populated properly. The tabs may need adjusting in my case but at least it brought it over! anon1
