Hi,

Seems like I've found a problem with the brush importing option.

I've used the Import previous content option when updating V2 from V1 and it took time and brought over all the brushes, at least in the list. They all view incorrectly, eg a solid block, rather than how the brush should be. I cleared the cache holding CTRL and restarting and same thing. I then imported a couple of purchased brush sets and they also show like solid brushes.

I haven't checked if it is the same thing in the iPad, but this is showing the same across all purchased brushes.

Thanks

I've also just installed the Fineliner brushes from My Account in Designer and they also didn't show or import correctly.

Forgot to note, I am using Windows 10.

They look fine for me on iPad:

And on Windows:

Hi @Mikey_D

I just tried this on my Win 10 PC with the Fineliner Brushes and the thumbnails show correctly.
If you select one of the brushes does it then show correctly?

Could you try Resetting the brushes in Edit > Preferences, then see if they display correctly.

Hi Emt, thanks for the help. I managed to get the brushes working. No idea what changed. I reset the prefs using CTRL on startup and import about 10 times and eventually it loaded and they all seem to work ok now.  Not quite sure what was causing the issue but it just decided to work after several times trying.

Yeh. Did this to me too, also on windows. Shut the program down and now it has just purged all but the stock brushes....

Is there a way to have another go at the import or do I just have to download and reinstall all third party assets? If the latter, honestly prob gonna skip upgrading for the forseeable. Initial experience toying with v2 has been deeply jarring so far. The wierd choice to spend time turning the whole suite into irritating windows 'apps' rather than imlementing basic features such as vector tracing... Hey. Version 1 still works just great, and I have other software to fill the gaps. Why am I wasting time. V1 good. Version 2 just doesn't feel out of beta on first try, which makes it hard to feel good about buying it again.

I did it about 10 times give or take, holding CTRL down when starting the app and going through the process. Not sure if there was anything else with the comp that was causing issues or not but it eventually worked.

I can't say. I don't use it enough to know what you mean, though this release definitely brought in some of the missing features I wanted. Only a couple more to go, though Illustrator will be the base for me at the moment as I need the link to After Effects.

Yeah, there's some nice new stuff for sure, but currently I'm finding the whole install and getting set up process leaves a lot to be desired. I guess what I'm identifying is, if that had been easy and seamless (as it is with a lot of the software I use) then I probably would have just gone for it, but the shift to version 2 seems to have created a bunch of issues that will need fixing over time or manual correction by the end user. Thus my 'beta version' comment. None of the new stuff is compelling enough to make me take the time out of my workflow to sort out the teething problems. I'll wait until v2 is a bit more mature and they've finished beta testing it on the user base and then upgrade at some future point if it continues to mature in a desirable direction.

I'm having a problem with brushes as well.  While working with a brush in pixel persona, the program crashed and when I reopened all my brushes had vanished.  I attempted to reload and got an 'error loading brushes' message.   I uninstalled and reinstalled the program and still no luck.  My brushes in designer persona are still there and functioning without a problem but I have tried every which way and cannot get my brushes back into pixel persona.

You may need to Reset your brushes, but this would affect all 3 apps, I think.

Close all the Affinity V2 apps.

Press and hold Ctrl while starting Designer 2. When you get the Clear User Data dialog you can release Ctrl. (Note: you may need to watch the Windows Task Bar for the Designer 2 icon and click on it to get that dialog. But keep Ctrl held until you have the dialog.)

Uncheck everything, and Check "Reset Brushes". Then click Clear.

You will have to reinstall any brushes that you installed manually. And if you've installed any via the Account dialog you may need to use Account again and tell it to reinstall them.
