Hi @Derek Stratton Welcome to the forums.

If this is when you're using File > Open the windows you see is from your OS so you should have some view options that you can change. If you struggle to find these options, upload a screenshot of what you see.

The path that I really wish to use is Faststone image viewer>folder>File>edit with external programme>affinity.

I can do this with both PS and Capture 1 but cannot find Affinity .exe to add to options.

Faststone Image Viewer seems to be one of the broken 3rd-party applications that cannot use Windows App Execution Aliases. It will let you point to a .bat file, however, so you could construct a .bat file with these contents and link to it from Faststone:

start /b affinityphoto2.exe %1
exit

Alternatively, you could try the aflaunch program that @Mark Ingram has been working on:
